REPORT TITLE:
MICRO-ANALYSIS SYSTEM FOR NON-INVASIVE DIAGNOSTICS
TALKING POINTS:

Traditionally in medicine biochemical blood test is used to assess the functional state of the organism, protein, fat and carbohydrate metabolism. Recently the new medical diagnostics directions based on non-invasive method are developed rapidly. One of this methods is an analysis of exhaled air. It was established that the exhaled air contains more than 600 volatile and nonvolatile compounds, about 20 of them are most sensitive to changes in the functional health and may serve as biomarkers of natural disease.
In the Chemistry Department of SSAU micro-analysis system for gas analysis was created. In our research the possibility of its adaptation for the exhaled air analysis were demonstrated. It can be used for cardiovascular disease screening in future. Described micro-analysis system represents the gas microchromatograph including planar microinjector, planar chromatographic micro-packed columns and thermochemical detector adapted to work with micro-packed columns. Overall dimensions of prototype is 14 × 22 cm
Experimentally the possibility of the calibration and sample preparation in identical conditions was proved. Calibration solutions preparation and concentration were made by chromato-desorption microsystems. Time of pentane and isoprene analysis after concentration equal to 60-70 seconds, that is corresponds to the requirements of snap analysis. Coincidently sensitivity, selectivity and characteristics stability of d escribed micro-analysis system is equalize to the one of stationary gas chromatographs.
The study was supported by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation under project № 608.
